Perfection & Paradox

Most eclipses slip through the sky like whispers. Unless they touch a tender place in your own chart, they often pass with only a subtle stirring. And thank goodness!  Can you imagine going through a full death-and-rebirth every six months? Spirit, in its wisdom, does not demand that of us.

Collectively, though, eclipses always carry weight. They remind us that we are bridges: spirit pouring itself into matter through the rhythm of our very ordinary lives.  This Virgo Season we enter the eclipse corridor; a passageway that opens toward what I call the Portal of Possibility. It is within that space that we find ourselves expressing somewhere along the spectrum of the desire for perfection:

  • answering the high call to embody spirit on earth, and

  • falling into our all-too-human habit of worry, be it the state of the world or the tiny irritations that keep tugging at us, and

  • all points between

So what is perfection, really?

Virgo season invites us to hold that question gently, as we notice the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) need to be “right,” alongside the voice of the critic who just wants us to be “safe.”

My first memory of the drive for perfection was around age 8, when my dad warned against eraser marks on my math homework.  Hard as I tried, I couldn’t hide the evidence that I had made a mistake; and that was unacceptable.  It took me a long time to un-learn the early message that mistakes were bad, and so was I, at least when I made them.  Embracing the eraser as a useful writing tool alongside the pencil took a lot of work.  I could have just tried to ‘let it go,’ but instead I reclaimed the right to make mistakes, and to value those opportunities as part of the worthy work of living in alignment with spirit.

It’s this kind of devotion we are being invited to bring to every irritation, every worry, every longing to fix or perfect.  We 'let go' not because these things don’t matter, aren’t real or couldn’t use a little work - but because it might just be that there’s a better way to go about it all - and that requires the kind of discernment that comes with the deeper practice of surrender.

“I surrender my perception of (insert your favorite worry here), making space for spirit to show me the way.”

The Virgo–Pisces axis has been humming in the background of the collective since January, 2025 and will continue until June 2026. These eclipses simply turn up the volume. They are a call to live our devotion in the smallest, most practical of ways; moment by moment, breath by breath.

And maybe that’s part of the perfection paradox: not something to achieve, but something to meet, whenever we remember to enter the quiet sanctuary of our own hearts. 💛

In Service to Spirit

We begin September with task-master Saturn dipping back into the watery realm of Pisces, dissolving the barriers that keep us from Spirit. This is Saturn’s final visit to the last degree of Pisces, paired with Neptune soon sliding back from Aries into Pisces. Together they ask: how disciplined are we in living our spirituality? What structures have we built around compassion, creativity, and connection? What illusions or dependencies are ready to be surrendered as kindling for the fire in Aries?

The very next day, Mercury amplifies the message with Virgoan precision, where we will spend a few weeks making lists and putting in the effort toward a job well done, while learning new ways to work with the worries that surface when things don’t unfold as planned.

Just hours before the Total Lunar Eclipse, Uranus - the cosmic mover and shaker - comes to a standstill in Gemini. This pause lets us review the ground Uranus just covered in Taurus over the past seven years on themes of the body, the Earth, and what it means to live sustainably. As it retraces its steps, we integrate before leaping fully into Gemini’s revolutionary terrain of thought, communication, and technology.

This lunar eclipse marks an emotional turning point, an invitation to “let go” - not as a bypass, but as a sacred surrender. This eclipse asks us to be real with what is while opening our hearts to a deeper knowing and the holy clarity that arrives when we stop arguing with what life has placed in our hands and choose instead to dance within the mystery.

Mid-month, the heavens shift their tone. Mercury slips into Libra, and Venus moves from expressive Leo into devoted Virgo. Venus in Virgo asks us to love with discernment and engage in service that empowers rather than drains. Watch for the shadow of martyrdom, giving so much that nothing remains for yourself. Balance devotion with boundaries, remembering that service is sacred when it honors both giver and receiver.

Later in the month, a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 29° Virgo brings us to the edge of mastery - the last breath of Virgo before Libra season begins. It reminds us there is a divine design to all of this (yes, even this), and our role is not to force but to respond, with reverence and devotion.

The gifts we carry - our sensitivity, our skills, our seemingly small offerings - belong to something far greater than we can always see. To be in service to Spirit is to trust those inner instructions, even when the outer world doesn’t yet understand.

As September closes, Mars dives into Scorpio and the Sun crosses into Libra. Mars gains renewed strength in Scorpio, one of its home signs. Expect sharper willpower, direct drive to uncover truth, and courage to face what lies beneath the surface. It’s an energy of cutting through, transforming, and not stopping until the heart of the matter is revealed.

Meanwhile, Libra season reminds us that true justice isn’t an idea but a practice. Balance lives in the daily choices we make; to honor others, and to honor ourselves.

This month, if perfection is measured at all, it’s in our willingness to accept the things we cannot change, continue working on what we can, and the ability to discern the difference between the two.

Devoted Return Album

September Album:  Devoted Return

The eclipses of September remind us that devotion isn’t a lofty platitude but a living practice. It shows up in the smallest acts: the meal you prepare with love, the conversation where you choose to listen deeply, the quiet moment you spend breathing with your own heart. This is where spirit takes root.
